One of the easiest budgies toys to make consists simply of leather string, plastic beads, wood spools, and a hook or key ring. Cut one piece of leather string approximately 12" in length and several other shorter pieces of leather string 3-4" in length. Tie a hook or key ring at one end of the long leather piece with 2-3 knots. Then thread the plastic beads and wood spools on in a pattern of your choice, interspersed with the occasional single-knotted shorter pieces of leather string. Just leave enough room at the end of the leather string to connect it to the hook or key ring with 2-3 more knots.

| Another easy budgie toy is made with leather string, plastic beads, wood beads, and a hook or key ring. Cut several pieces of leather string depending on how many "arms" you want the toy to have. Start by tying 2 knots on the end of one of the strings and then "anchor" it with a wood bead. Then thread on plastic beads in any pattern or even randomly. Tie on a hook or key ring on the other end leaving about 2 inches of open string between the hook and the plastic beads. Start the next string the same way by tying 2 knots on one end followed by an "anchor" of a wooden bead followed by the plastic beads. Thread the plastic beads on about a third of the remaining string. Then tie a knot around the open spot in the first leather string and then continue threading plastic beads and tie 2 knots at the end of the string. Continue this with the additional leather strings until the open space on the original string is filled up.
